on my way to return some library books (on Cornell, Flavin & Rothko) last night, i came across the bagi's glassblowing & torchworking demos amidst downtown san jose's winter wonderland, where i watched a glass pumpkin blown from blob to stem.
when i first heard of glass pumpkins in the bay area, i had assumed there was an artist making them, then i found out it was a local scene, talking to a couple of the artists.
but this was my 1st time to see 1 being blown. i can now say they are worth more than what they usually go for—much dangerous work goes into making them, & each 1 is unique.
